Yarn blendsThis is a featured page

Many yarns that combine different fibres are used in manufacturing modern fabrics. Each type of fibre brings a different quality to the overall responsiveness of the yarn. Hence, for example, a small amount of a stretch fibre will add elasticity to a natural fibre, while a small amount of a water repellant fibre will introduce some impermeability into the blended fibre. There are so many blends today, it is hard to find a systematic way of categorizing them. We do so based on the properties that the blend seeks to achieve :
  • Colorfast blends
  • Eco-friendly blends
    • Hemp/silk blend
  • Impermeable blends
  • Lustre blends
  • Non-shrink blends
  • Perspiration-tolerant blends
  • Resistant blends
  • Stretch blends
  • Waterproof
    • PVC
    • Imperial PVC
  • Other blends
    • Alepine - wool/silk or mohair/cotton blends
    • Arrasene - embroidered fabric of a wool/silk blend
